For once, this is not a Caza-eBOOK production, but it is with joy that I present to you Gudule’s “Tales to vomit standing up”, which I had the pleasure of illustrating.

Far from politically correct, cruel and tender, “trash” and terribly funny, Gudule’s tales, which initially appeared in Charlie Hebdo, Hara Kiri, Fluide Glacial, Psikopat or Hebdogiciel during the 80s, laughing at everything – and especially the worst – , these thirty-five concentrates of black humor have found a second youth in this beautiful achievement from ArmadA editions by Jérôme Baud.

For my part, I took the opportunity to take out the darkest side of my pencil… and I really enjoyed myself, even if vomiting between each drawing caused me some domestic hygiene problems.

In addition to a special illustration for each of the tales, we dressed the blanks of the layout with sketches taken from my notebooks*. In close collaboration, Jérôme Baud and I decided on every detail of the model, taking our time and with the idea of playing with a certain typographical elegance, just to give a chic reverse shot to these stories and drawings of the latest bad taste.

After, question printing and manufacturing, I admit that I dragged things out by successively refusing two BAT (ready to print)! (Pencil drawings are not so easy to process…) But the result is there and we are happy, despite the pinch in the heart to know Gudule left before having seen the object in its final state.

20×20 format, soft cover with flaps, 116 pages, 35 original pencil illustrations + around sixty additional drawings and tailpieces.

(There must also remain a few copies of the hardcover edition of 50 numbered copies and accompanied by two short stories illustrated in color in the form of two-part A5 postcards.)
