A special “show” (live), why, how?
Since the 1980s, I have had a few opportunities to experience live performance: theatre, dance, opera. Sometimes it was limited to the program or the poster, sometimes it was the big game: sets, costumes, follow-up of production… and even coming to greet on stage the evening of the premiere.
The trouble is that the theatre, in its very principle, is ephemeral – and therefore the essential was only seen by the spectators present… Fortunately there are still working documents, sketches, models, photos , films… most of which have never been shown, so far.
Alongside some small regional works, I therefore have the pleasure of showing you some sets and costumes for “Mangeront-ils?” by Victor Hugo, in 84… the decor for a Montpellier dance show in 87… and the most recent (and unexpected): the canvases painted for “La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein” by Offenbach in 2009.
And all this in panoramic format!
